Unitar Plans To Open
Branch Campuses In Indonesia.
MENTAKAB, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Universiti Tun Abdul Razak
(Unitar) plans to open four branch campuses in Indonesia to enhance the
university's prestige in the region, its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr Syed
Othman Al-Habshi said.
The campuses are proposed to be set up in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and
Jogjakarta, he said.
The Indonesian authorities had asked Unitar to open 22 branch campuses
throughout the country but it would not be possible to do so within a short
period as it needed proper planning, he told reporters after launching
"Undergrads Going To Villages" programme organised by Unitar's Young
Corporate Club at Felda Bukit Damar in Lanchang, near here, yesterday.
Dr Syed Othman said Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and the United States have also
expressed interest to have Unitar franchise programmes in their countries but
the plan required careful study before it could be implemented.
